Welcome to Issues of Race.
This is an interesting topic for me, especially to teach. Part of the reason I like it is because it is a somewhat taboo topic, especially in my country (the US). In spite of race being such a factor for so many people, to actually talk about it is difficult. But it is a topic that needs to be talked about because it is so fundamental to so many issues in America: our history including slavery and civil rights, equality on so many levels (such as with education, employment opportunities, housing, health care), politics, social policy, etc.
For this reason, race (and the broader topic of issues that divide people) provides so many possibilities for students to explore. You will see this when I bring your senpai papers to class.
I look forward to seeing what topics you choose to write about and what you discover with your research.
